Sunday Sizzle 6-16-13

Since HEAT WAVE is coming out in the next few months...I thought we'd go back to LIGHTNING, my first 1Night Stand, for today's Sunday Sizzle!

Zena Night, the heroine of HEAT WAVE is the naughty succubus sister of Lily Night from LIGHTNING and Dagney Night from FROST! We've met her in LIGHTNING's opening pages. Soon she'll have a book of her own.

But this is about Lily and her hunky squeeze, Campbell.

“This time’s for you. For both of us. I want you writhing. Crying out my name to the sky.”

His breath against her ear ignited another shower of sparks that he immediately captured with a long, slow, mesmerizing kiss, as if taking her errant power into himself and feeding her back current, controlled and tantalizing bit by bit.

“I think that gorgeous neck deserves a tattoo.” He brushed her hair off her shoulder. “So you never forget me again. So you remember you’re mine. Tonight. At least for a little while.”

He swept his mouth across hers, searing her soul. Before she could recover, he ranged a string of possessive kisses across her jaw, over her throat, nipping at her with tiny, playful bites. He caressed her with his tongue, the gentle laps both soothing and lethal as he marked the spot, sucking at her fragile, vulnerable skin. She floated on a cloud of pleasure, all thoughts fleeing. Only gradually did the haze of delight part enough for her consciousness to absorb what he was doing.

“You’re giving me a hickey?” Her laughter spilled into the night. “That is so high school.”

“Might I remind you where we are, baby?”

He released her hands and she wrapped her arms around his neck to draw him back to her. “Do your worst, football hero.”

Sunday Sizzle 4/7/13

Working on Zena's story now.  Just started and I'm only about 5 pages into it.

Zena is a succubus -- Lily's and Dagney's eldest sister. We first meet her in LIGHTNING, my first 1Night Stand story for Decadent Publishing.

I think her intro in her own book (as yet untitled) is similar to her intro in LIGHTNING, the first story in my Sleepy Hollow series for Decadent.

So here are a few Zena sentences from LIGHTNING:

She snorted and vanished. A shimmer of energy rippled the atmosphere and then she appeared again behind the hottie, invisible except to her sisters. Curving her slinky body to fit his, she twined a long leg around his calf.

The man finished hammering with a final bang and rubbed the back of his neck, as if a sultry woman arched against him, blowing into his ear. As indeed one did. A subtle shiver ran through him. Zena eased down the zipper of his tight jeans.

"Okay now, Ms. Night?" He glanced back at Lily over one brawny shoulder.  "I need to--unh!"

His words ended in a lusty grunt.

Sentences on a Sunday...Valentine's edition

Some sentences from FROST, because FROST is a Valentine's story. And Valentine's Day is Thursday. And because, well, today is Sunday.  And we must have sentences on Sunday.

Wherein...Max makes Dagney cry:

Damn Max Raines and all the things he’d made her want.

He’d used the safe word?

He’d called Cupid?

Without giving her what she’d wanted most?

Dagney stared dry-eyed at the ceiling, with its splashy, glittery red Valentines, frilly lace doilies and fat, naked cherubs. She wanted to grab their stupid arrows and shoot each one in the heart. Early morning light streamed through the glass windows of the gallery, and she squinted against the glare.

Sentences...because it's Sunday

No one is more of a creature of habit than me.
So even though Official Six Sentence Sunday is no more, well, hell, this poor blog would get no posts at all if I couldn't toss up six (or more or less) from time to time. Sunday or no Sunday.

FROST released on Friday. I am dead crazy about the hero, Max Raines. Abso-freakin'-crazy about him.

Hope you'll be, too.

So here's a few from FROST:

Raines dragged a finger around his collar, popping open the top button. If he couldn’t achieve release soon, he’d go mad. Jacking off into his fist gave him insufficient gratification. Human women proved too delicate and fragile, too
breakable. Demons glommed onto him, far too needy, attaching themselves with the tenacity of barnacles, draining him of inspiration and clinging long past their expiration dates.

He’d learned from bitter experience he could crisp any woman he touched. The infamous Maxwell Raines: a six-foot-six, two hundred twenty-five pound hunka burning love.

And now I’m channeling Elvis.

FROST!

FROST is out now!

It's another sexy paranormal for Decadent Publishing's 1Night Stand series, the third in the Sleepy Hollow series (and my fourth Sleepy Hollow book)!

An erotic Valentine's Day story, FROST's heroine is Dagney Night, the succubus sister of Lily Night, the heroine from LIGHTNING, the first book in the series.  Don't worry if you haven't read one or another; they all stand alone!

The smoldering hot hero is Maxwell Raines, a talented artist and tall, dark and DEMON!

EXCERPT:
Dagney followed her sister’s glance, and her heart flipped like a gymnast unable to nail a vault. Darkness swathed the gallery with the exception of the lights above or below each of the paintings. The large man emerging from the shadows held her rapt. Waves of pure, unadulterated lust smacked her with such force she didn’t even see Lily and Campbell leave. The blast of raw desire crumpled her to the floor. Her gaze remained riveted on the tall hunk of ferocious male stalking toward her, radiating undiluted carnality. He set something carefully on the floor and grasped her by the elbows, his touch surprisingly gentle when he lifted her to her feet.
“I’m Maxwell Raines.”
Yeah. No kidding. Who else could a guy so hot, so studly, possibly be?
She told herself not to swoon. Ordered herself not to swoon. But, Goddess, that rumbling voice. More potent than a train barreling over the tracks. And he smelled so good. Sinfully masculine. A bit of musk, a bite of pine, an essence of dark, smoky nights. Sexy scents. Reminiscent of tangled satin sheets that had been given a good work-out.
Her legs turned to rubber, and she doubted they’d support her on their own. She’d be mortified if he’d have to scrape her puddled body up again. But he hadn’t yet relaxed his grip. Could she bullshit her way through the meeting without collapsing? “You’re late,” she said.
“I’m never late.”
“Well, the party’s over, Mr. Raines.” She waved a hand around the empty room.
“Depends on your perspective.”
“You’re big on perspective, are you?”
“I’m a painter.” A brief shrug accompanied his blunt words. “Obvious connection.”
“Right. But as you can see, everyone’s left.”
“You haven’t.” He gazed down at her, a black brow flaring. “And you’re what I’m here for.”

Six Sentence Sunday - 01/20/13

This will be the second to last Six Sentence Sunday post. Sad to see it go. Found some new-to-me authors on the list and it's been a fun exercise, helping me to sharpen my own writing (and sometimes to creatively edit) to manage to fit the important stuff into six sentences.

On a few occasions, even works I'd already submitted came under the axe and, during the final editing phases, were streamlined further in the finished book. (You can go back and look, if you like, but I'm not pointing out the way!)

Today's second to last six, and perhaps next week's also, are from FROST, my 1Night Stand story from Decadent Publishing, releasing on February 12 in time for Valentine's Day.

How many times before had he been through this?
Suffered through just such a female reaction to his overpowering sexuality? She tried to steel herself, to toughen up, to call upon her inner smartass. But he made it difficult. Dressed all in black, from T-shirt to jeans, he seemed to fill the room, his dominating presence swamping even his most compelling paintings. Thick bands of taut muscle rippled beneath the tight cotton and snug denim. He needed only the leather biker jacket to complete the bad boy image.

Six Sentence Sunday 12-16-12

FROST, my third erotic paranormal 1Night Stand story is coming soon from Decadent Publishing. No word on a release date yet...but it is a Valentine's story...so here's hoping.

The heroine, Dagney Night, is a sexy succubus and sister of Lily Night, the heroine of my first 1Night Stand, LIGHTNING.

To celebrate the brand spanking new contract... here are six from FROST:

Dagney's  heart flipped over like a gymnast unable to nail a vault as the tall hunk of ferocious male prowled towards her, radiating undiluted carnality.  Waves of pure, unadulterated lust smacked her like a two-by-four, the raw blast of desire crumpling her to the floor.
He grasped her by the elbows to lift her to her feet, his touch surprisingly gentle.
"I'm Maxwell Raines."
Yeah, no freakin’ kidding --who else could a guy this hot, this studly possibly be?
"You're late."

News!

FROST, my third sexy paranormal 1Night Stand story has been contracted by Decadent Publishing!

I excerpted a six-sentence snippet here in this space on Sunday and another when FROST was still a WIP a few weeks back.  Chances are extremely good I'll preview another six sentences this coming Six Sentence Sunday.

The heroine of FROST, Dagney Night, is a succubus who longs for a Valentine on the traditional succubus busy night of the year. Dag first put in an appearance in LIGHTNING, as sister of LIGHTNING's heroine, Lily. In fact, it was Dag who convinced Lily to try Madame Evangeline's high-end dating service, 1Night Stand.

Here's the unofficial blurb:

Dagney Night, a sought-after succubus, is no stranger to blazing sex. But as Valentine’s Day approaches, she longs for something more. When oddly erotic paintings arrive for display at her art gallery, arousing everyone who views them, she wonders about the mysterious artist who created the works.

When Madame Evangeline arranges a torrid Valentine’s 1Night Stand for them, will the flames of their encounter be too hot to handle.

I'm so excited you'll get a chance to see Dagney and Max's story, not only my third 1Night Stand story for Decadent, but also the third one set in mystical Sleepy Hollow.  We may run a little contest to select a  name for my little Sleepy Hollow 1Night Stand mini-series. Stay tuned for more on that.

In the meantime, please stop by the Daily Dose of Decadence blog site today.  Veronica Hardwicke, the heroine of THUNDER, my second 1Night Stand story, has a few things she needs to get off her chest. Leave a comment over there for a chance to win some goodies!

Six Sentence Sunday 12-9-12

This one's out on submission. I'm calling it FROST. (Though it could probably be called FIRE.)

The heroine is Dagney Night,  a sexy succubus, and the older sister of Lily, the heroine of LIGHTNING, my first 1Night Stand story for Decadent Publishing. Hoping this one will be the third.

She looked at the drape of red satin that curved around the unadorned bowl in the painting, and imagined herself stretched out upon the voluptuous length of slick material, naked, arms and legs splayed, writhing in an agony of lust beneath the artist’s scorching gaze. Who the hell was this guy? This phenomenal new find? This Maxwell Raines?

Dear Goddess she wanted him.

Sight unseen.

Six Sentence Sunday 11-18-12

This Sunday's six are from a WIP I'm playing around with, tentatively titled FROST.  Hoping it'll turn into my third 1Night Stand story for Decadent Publishing, following LIGHTNING and THUNDER. Stay tuned.

A gust swirled the tails of Raines' paint-spattered linen shirt, the sleeves rolled up to reveal his biceps, as if it were the dog days of August, not the chill gloom of February.
“You must come in, sir--the wind’s kicking up and you haven’t eaten in two days.”
Raines tossed his brush, the bristles slathered with Mars Black, onto the palette in irritation with himself and his absent muse.
The unfinished landscape was all that stood between the ravening beast pacing with increasing agitation inside him and the rest of the world.  Hot with fever, his rising temperature bursting through the fuckin' stratosphere--and his muse had deserted him.
You picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille.
