Overstressed and out-of-time...so...back to Sleepy Hollow Dreams this week for Six Sentence Sunday. Only one week left until Halloween!
The black Sleepy Hollow sky glittered with stars, a swathe of silvery moonlight spilling over her as she slipped from the house. Like the eyes of the man she wished she were making love with now, instead of fleeing from her home. But evil swept down from the mountains and lay heavy as fog on the fragrant autumn air. The need to run tore at her, tugging her along.
Katy’s pink flip-flops slapped against pavement, the sound loud in the silent night.
And suddenly she knew she was not alone.
And check out the awesome Six Sentence Sunday authors here!

A very descriptive and suspenseful excerpt.
Love it!!!
Nice way to create atmosphere.
BTW - noted the time of the post 12::01 am - were you waiting for the stroke of midnight? lol
Oooo, creepy! I love it!
Great post Taryn, with a subtle tone of creepiness. Can't wait to see what you post next week!
I love the title of this story!! Very cool!!
Wow, you are all up and at 'em exceedingly early on a Sunday a.m. (Or, maybe I'm just exceedingly late.) Thanks everyone, for stopping by. Always appreciate your comments!
Liz, I set the blog to auto-post at 12:01. Not only is it the fitting witching hour, but my dad's in the hospital (fell and broke his hip yesterday) and I wasn't sure how much time I'd have to play around with Six Sentence Sunday today.
"The black Sleepy Hollow sky glittered with stars" - love it.. and the pink flip flops still have me smiling!
Can't wait to read this. Now that my story is done, I get to pleasure read this week. Yay!
Graylin: Yeah, Katy's stylin'
Sandra: Let me know what you think! I have Angel's Master on the Kindle. At least it's showing on the computer. Not showing on the Kindle itself. I'll figure it out, eventually!
Great post! Can't wait to read the rest!
Thanks, Emily!
Wow! Nice imagery!
Wow. I just shivered. "She knew she wasn't alone." Very impressed.
Thanks, Dee! Thanks, Rebecca. More shivers in store. Good ones, though. If you catch my drift. (My heroines tend to shiver a lot. My heroes tend to do that to 'em.)
I love how dark and spooky this is. Hope your Dad's okay Taryn.
Oh, that is awesome. The detail of the setting made me want to run right alongside her. The added punch at the end, she isn't alone, had me hooked, wanting more.
Nice!
Very spooky. Now I have to wonder what's on her heels. lol
Now I have shivers!
Thanks, Eleri. He seems to be doing well. Surgery tomorrow. Like just a repair, not a replacement. Relieved!
Christa, Shoshanna, Hailey and Lex~
Glad to see you all. Thanks for popping by. Don't you love Six Sentence Sunday? Loving all the snippets I've been reading today.
Terri, This sounds really good. Hopefully I'll have a Kindle soon.
Like I told Wendy. You don't need a Kindle. Besides, don't you have other e-readers???
Sorry to hear about your dad - cyber hugs
Thanks, Liz. Not as bad as it could have been, apparently.
If it's at Fictionwise I can get it for the reader. If not, I can't. Doesn't do pdf.
It's available in 5 different formats, Janet. Your reader doesn't read ANY of them? Oh.
Loved your six sentances, Taryn. I ordered my Kindle DX. Bigger screen which I thought I'd like and it does PDF and wireless downloads. I'm finally catching up to everyone else!
Oh, very nicely done. Great atmosphere. And the pink flip-flops--killer detail!
Thanks!
