Emily Cale

Delighted to have fellow Decadent Publishing author Emily Cale in to guest blog today! Please join us, as she discusses her newest  steamy 1 Night Stand series release, POWER PLAY, Book 2 in her Hat Trick Trilogy.  Sometimes you just have to listen when the characters talk to you!

The Road to Happily-Ever-After

Thanks so much to Taryn for hosting me on her blog today to talk about my newest release, Power Play.

So I’m going to tell you a secret about this book. It didn’t start out as a threesome. In fact, when the first draft was written, it only had Ian and Natalie. The story was okay, but it didn’t feel quite right. The characters were happy in the end, but only because I told them they had to be. Neither of them really got what they wanted.

So what is an author to do? Well, I sat the two of them down on the couch in their hotel suite and told them they had to be straight with me if we were all going to get happy. After a bunch of chitter-chatter, they finally confessed that something—or rather someone—was missing. So I did a bunch of deleting and started the whole thing over. This time, Natalie was far less dominant than she’d originally been, but she was also much more independent. While she might not be as take charge in the bedroom, she certainly was in setting up the date.

It worked out better for everyone. My two hockey players don’t mind taking charge. They’re good at it and more than happy to make sure that everyone involved got the happily ever after they deserved.

Power Play (Hat Trick Trilogy Book 2)

Natalie Fritz didn't need a night of sexual adventure as payment for setting her friend up, but she wouldn't turn it down either. Determined to make sure she gets exactly what she wants, she contacts Madame Eve and requests not one, but two dates for the evening. What she doesn't expect is for those men to be players on her friend's hockey team.

Ian and Todd find that sharing women provides all parties with more pleasure. Finding someone who buys into their theory is a little harder. So they turn to Madame Eve's 1 Night Stand service to locate a partner. When they meet Natalie, they discover a gorgeous woman who turns them on physically and intellectually.

Most relationships are meant to be between two people, but what happens when it takes three to make the night worthwhile? Can they take a leap of faith or will their time be limited to one night?

I bet deleting those words were painful, but also necessary. Love it when characters fess up how their romance should go...that's when you know you've kept true to the story and YOu haven't been the gearing force behind the plot points etc...
Power Play sounds like a fun story full of sexytimes and rich characters to love!! Another fab addition to the 1NS series.
Grats on the new release xx

I agree with JoAnne. Deleting words can be painful, but if it makes the story better than it's so worth it. Power Play is on my ereader, and I look forward to reading it. :)

All the best!

Thanks for stopping by, Jess! I agree with you, too. My bugaboo is usually adding, not deleting. But once I've set the thing aside for awhile, I CAN be ruthless!
